Dr. Ondrej Schneider is a Resident Scholar in economics at the Center for European Policy Analysis. He joined the CEPA team in January 2008.
Dr. Schneider graduated from the Prague School of Economics with a M.A. in economic modelling, and received a M.Phil. in economics from Cambridge University. In 1998, he obtained his PhD. in economics from CERGE of Charles University in Prague.
From 1998-2002, he worked at Patria Finance, a Prague-based investment bank, first as Chief Economist and then as Managing Director for Strategy. In 2002, Dr. Schneider moved over to the Institute for Social and Economic Analyses (ISEA) in Prague, where he was a fellow and vice-chairman. He was also a fellow at the Munich University's Center for Economic Studies.
From 2000-2007, Dr. Schneider was a lecturer at New York University's campus in Prague, and he served as the head of Charles University's European Economic Integration and Economic Policy department from 2002-2007. Since 2005, he has held the rank of Associate Professor at Charles University.
Dr. Schneider has worked as a consultant for the IMF, World Bank and the OECD. He is the editor of the Czech Journal of Economics and Finance, and the author of a number of papers and articles published in Czech and foreign economic journals and books.
