NEW LEADERSHIP TO ITS ROSTER

WASHINGTON, DC – The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) expands the Board, adds to the leadership team, and brings on new expertise on security.

CEPA is proud to announce new additions to its team, bringing a wealth and diversity of experience in transatlantic relations from government, expert, and business communities to the organization as part of CEPA’s strategic expansion under the leadership of Alina Polyakova, who joined the organization in February as President and CEO.

Thomas Firestone and Eckart von Klaeden join CEPA’s Board of Directors.

Thomas Firestone is a Partner at Baker McKenzie where he co-chairs the Firm's North American Government Enforcement practice and is a member of the Firm's Global Compliance & Investigations Steering Committee. He previously served at the U.S. Department of Justice and as the Resident Legal Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

Eckart von Klaeden is the Head of Daimler AG’s External Affairs unit. He previously served as Germany’s Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor from 2009 to 2013 and served in the German Parliament for nearly 20 years.

“We are very pleased that Tom Firestone and Eckart Von Klaeden will be joining the CEPA Board,” said Larry Hirsch, Chairman of the CEPA Board of Directors. “Each brings a vast knowledge of Europe, broad regional experiences, and a commitment to the values that support our transatlantic mission. Tom and Eckart will make significant contributions to our growth.”

Geysha González and Nicole Brown join CEPA’s leadership team.

Geysha González joins CEPA as Senior Director for Programs and Strategy, leading operations, business development, and communications as well as developing the organization’s strategic partnerships. She was previously at the Atlantic Council where she served as Deputy Director for Policy Partnership at the Digital Forensic Research Lab (DFRLab) and as Deputy Director of the Eurasia Center.

Nicole Brown joins CEPA as Head of Financial Operations, leading CEPA’s financial operations. She was previously at the McCain Institute for International Leadership at Arizona State University where she served as a Senior Financial Specialist.

“I am thrilled to have Geysha and Nicole — both top professionals in their field and devoted Atlanticists — join CEPA’s leadership team. Their years of experience at Washington’s most respected institutions brings expertise, innovative ideas, and dynamism to CEPA’s mission,” said President and CEO Alina Polyakova.

Lauren Speranza and Ambassador Kurt Volker add to CEPA’s security portfolio.

Ambassador Kurt Volker joins the organization as a Distinguished Fellow.
