Assessing Cyber Horizons

The CEPA Warsaw office hosted an experts' roundtable on the importance of cybersecurity in protecting against influence operations and safeguarding against the digital threats of today and tomorrow. The discussion was introduced by CEPA Warsaw’s Program Coordinator Olgierd Syczewski and led by CEPA’s Senior Vice President Edward Lucas.

In recent years, the Kremlin has used methods of hybrid warfare to interfere in Western democracies. Although the West has uncovered some of these mechanisms, there are still many unknowns, including: the form these attacks may take in the future and the effectiveness these operations have on Western polities.

Edward Lucas and participating cybersecurity experts analyzed the dynamics and intentions of cyber threats, discussed reasons why the outcomes of similar attacks differ across case studies, and proposed methods to better safeguard institutions and societies against the ever-evolving digital threats that the West will continue to face.
